Silver Tuareg cross pendant necklace 13-14th century
These symbols may represent the four corners of the world, offering guidance and protection. Some consider them a representation of God is the center of the universe, we are one with God and protection from evil. Other theories suggest a derivation from the Egyptian Ankh symbol or a sex symbol. The Southern Cross constellation may have also served as inspiration. This piece has been cleaned by myself then soaked in a sulphur based bath creating the dark spots in the lowest parts of the design. The bath is 100% natural and nontoxic.
