Some Zombie Stories, 11

The Zombie Parade always kicked off the Zombie 4th of July celebration. The zombies had a marching band that played raggedy versions of Sousa marches on bent mellophones, drums with holes in them, and a whole section of glockenspiel that were in near-mint condition.

Next came zombie soccer teams sponsored by local businesses, zombie boys and girls shuffling, waving at zombie parents, sporting bright-colored t-shirts with the logos for the butcher shop and the insurance agency where everyone went to get car insurance when they first passed their exams.

These were our businesses, not zombie businesses. The zombies didn't seem to have any businesses, that we knew of. It actually wasn't clear if the zombies had money, or needed money. They never charged the businesses to sponsor the teams, and nobody ever saw them shopping. How they bought their instruments, or houses, or soccer balls, was a mystery.

After the soccer teams came the clowns, who were hilarious.
