These pants feature the TELO MIMETICO camouflage pattern, introduced to the Italian Army in 1929. It's considered the first mass-produced camouflage pattern in history. Initially developed for tent shells, it featured a low-saturation, gray-leaning camouflage. In the 1950s, the pattern was slightly scaled down and the color scheme was modified based on the M-29 pattern, and it was used until around the 1990s. It was used by the Italian Army's mountain troops and paratroopers, and also by the San Marco Marine Brigade, hence the camouflage is often referred to as San Marco Camo.

These combat overpants were adopted around the 1960s and were widely used within the Italian Army, primarily by the paratroopers.
